OUR OBJECTIVE
Simpson Elementary School will work to cultivate a culture of rigorous, high expectations focused on state standards in order to meet the needs of all students. We will support parents and students in understanding the programs that we are implementing by supporting them. Simpson Elementary school will also work to make sure that all students feel connected and inspired at school.
OUR TACTICS
#1: We will cultivate a culture of rigorous, high expectations focused on state standards in order to meet the needs of all students.
Action Specific Result 1: Simpson staff will utilize standards aligned, high-level though provoking questions, with explicit instructions, assessment, and professional development as scaffolds to demonstrate an increased proficiency on CAASPP and iReady Diagnostic assessments to decrease proficiency gaps in literacy and numeracy.
Action Step 1: Teachers will utilize a variety of strategies and programs to support daily discussions using academic/technical vocabulary, peer discourse, project-based learning, content complexity and student demonstration of achievement throughout the year. Action Step 2: Teachers will utilize high quality programs to ensure that students are able to achieve high levels of rigor. Programs not limited to Accelerated Reading, Iready Instruction, Wonders, BrainPop, Reflect Math, REady Common Core Math/Reading, IAB's, CommonLit, Student Led Conferences, SIPPS, LETRS, etc.
Action Step 3: Teachers will utilize high quality rigor in the classroom with strategies that promote the 4 C's, Communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration.
Action Specific Result 2: Simpson Staff will utilize standards-aligned, high-level thought-provoking questions with numeracy improvement.
Action Specific Result 3: Teachers will promote and support the whole student in order to ensure that rigorous demands can be met, by providing social learning and collaboration.
Action Step 1: Teachers will promote MTSS strategies to ensure the needs of students are being met at the foundational level and will encourage social learning and collaboration, with problem-solving.
Action Step 2: Administration will provide research-based systemic training and support on behavior strategies including functions of behavior, in order for students to acquire learning to learn skills, including but not limited to functional behavior

Action Specific Result 1: Students will improve academic achievement across all disciplines via increased motivation to learn through activities outside the regular classroom.
Action Step 1: Assemblies - Simpson will seek out and provide three or more quality assemblies per year in order to spark curiosity and motivation to learn.
Action Step 2: Clubs - if possible, teachers will volunteer to provide extracurricular clubs for students to participate in K-5. Clubs could be anything from calligraphy to coding and podcasting. Clubs should be focused on the 4 C's, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Clubs should inspire students to learn via engaging in activities that support learning.
Action Step 3: Live Performances - All students will participate in a live performance each year. Teachers can work together to plan and implement performances for parents. Teachers would also be offered the option of doing a single live performance. Live performances could be at rallies, in classrooms, or anything else provided it is done by the parents. A parent sign in will be required for classroom performances.
Action Step 4: Student Recognition - Students will be recognized at Friday rallies for academic achievements. Recognition will be required for classroom performances.
Action Specific Result 2: Students will improve academic achievement across all disciplines via increased motivation to learn through activities inside the regular classroom.
Action Step 1: Presentations: all students will engage in formal or informal oral presentations. This could be as simple as sharing a talent or something unique about themselves or their families. It could be a more formal presentation about a completed project -- teachers decide. Each grade level will create an age appropriate template for students to work from. A Q and A will be available after each presentation.

Action Specific Result 1: Creating systems through our website, brochures, meetings, committees, parent liaisons, parent center/ hub for easy access.
Action Step 1: Correct the website to reflect current information and resources for families to access and navigate easily.
Action Step 2: Create a dedicated "Family Resource" Center/area where families can access information, resources, brochures, etc. to support their needs at home and in school.
Action Step 3: Recruit a parent volunteer to act as our school/home liaison to support and help families navigate through the process of getting guidance and support for their needs.

Action Specific Result 2: Simpson families will be provided with opportunities to participate in educational activities to enhance family life.
Action Step 1: Simpson will provide families with workshops to help with Chromebook usage and smart devices.
Action Step 2: Simpson will provide families with district readily accessible resources for parent volunteer information, clothing, medical, and food resources.
Action Step 3: Simpson will provide and facilitate learning opportunities for families, such as early literacy, English Language Learners, safety and health/ nutrition.
