Dollahan Elementary is proud to announce that we are a "Be A Buddy Not A Bully" school. Therapeutic Behavioral Strategists (TBS) from Special Services taught our young leaders valuable life lessons that will forever help them in their academic career.
We are pleased to inform you that your student participated in an important training session designed to address bullying and promote a supportive school environment. During this session, students learned the following key concepts:
1. Defining Bullying Behavior: Students were educated about what bullying looks like and how it can manifest in various forms, including physical, verbal, and social bullying. They gained a clear understanding of the impact bullying can have on individuals.
2. Reporting vs. Tattling: Students discussed the important difference between reporting harmful behaviors, which helps protect others and make the school environment safer, and tattling, which involves reporting minor issues without a significant harm involved. The focus was on understanding when it is necessary to speak up for safety.
3. Self-Advocacy Strategies: Students were introduced to strategies they can use to stand up for themselves if they are being targeted by bullying. This empowers them to express their feelings, set boundaries, and seek help when necessary.
4. Empathy and Understanding: The training encouraged students to develop empathy for those who experience bullying and understand the emotional toll it can take. This was aimed at fostering a more compassionate community where students support each other.
5. Becoming Upstanders: Students were inspired to take action when they witness bullying. The training emphasized the importance of stepping in as Upstanders, encouraging students to support peers in a positive way and contribute to a safe and respectful school environment.
