Special Education Review

  • In April 2023, the Rialto Unified School District engaged with FourPoint Education Partners to conduct an independent review of its special education services.  This report describes the current state of the special education programs, services, and supports provided in Rialto Unified School District and is designed to guide the District toward continuous improvement. 

     

    *The Spanish version of this review will be available after January 13, 2025. 

     

    This review focused on systems, processes, and procedures across departments that contribute to the success of students with identified disabilities in the following areas:

     

    Improved Outcomes for Students with Disabilities

    1. Leadership

    2. Systems and Structures

    3. Learning Environments and Specialized Structures

    4. High Expectations

    5. Family and Community Engagement

    6. Human Capital

     

    The FourPoint Team conducted a mixed-methods approach involving the following:

    • held interviews and focus groups with approximately 215 district staff and stakeholders (parents and community members) during a four-day site visit in April 2023.  

    • Reviewed all available state and district data and reports

    • Visited 14 schools 

    • Observed 84 general education and Special Day Class settings

    • Administered surveys with 427 respondents
